My name is Sandeep Kumar, a 3rd-year B.Tech student at APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Delhi. I’m passionate about making neuroscience research tools reliable and production-ready.
I’ve been actively contributing to the KnowledgeSpace AI Agent repository (GitHub - INCF/knowledge-space-agent: GenAI Chat agent for Knowledge Space) over the past few months. Here’s a summary of my work:
Merged/Submitted PRs:
- PR #64: Built the project’s first-ever automated test suite (28 tests, 100% pass rate) with proper mocking of heavy dependencies (torch, vertexai, google-cloud)
- PR #48: Security fix — sanitized API error messages to prevent internal information leakage
- PR #46: UX fix — resolved chat history persistence bug
- PR #43: Compatibility fix — Python version constraint
- PR #56: Added rate limiting middleware
- PR #51: Added SSE streaming endpoint
Issues Identified:
#42, #45, #47, #50, #55, #63 — documented real problems including missing tests, error handling gaps, and security concerns.
For GSoC 2026, I’m interested in expanding test coverage to 100+ tests, implementing structured error handling with graceful degradation, setting up CI/CD with GitHub Actions, and ensuring the agent is production-ready for daily use by neuroscience researchers.
I’d love feedback from mentors on this direction. Is there anything specific the team would like prioritized for production readiness?
