I’m working on a tool under the Membership Anywhere project that helps neuroscience institutions and research networks issue digital membership cards to their members, with the goal to add membership card to Apple Wallet so researchers can carry their institutional access credentials directly on their iPhone.
The use case is fairly common in our community conference badges, lab access passes, INCF member credentials but the tooling around how to properly add membership card to Apple Wallet in a programmatic, scalable way is still quite scattered. Most solutions I’ve found are either too commercial or require a heavy infrastructure setup that smaller research groups can’t maintain.
I’m trying to understand if anyone here has dealt with issuing digital passes for research participants, conference attendees, or institutional members and found a lightweight way to add membership card to Apple Wallet without relying on paid third-party services entirely.
Would love to hear how others in the neuroscience infrastructure space are handling researcher identity and access management on mobile. Any pointers to open tools, workflows, or prior discussions would be really appreciated.
