Dear Open-Science Community,
We are excited to announce that the Stim-BIDS Extension Proposal (BEP044) for standardizing stimulus files and their annotations is now ready for public comments and community review. This BEP addresses the need for a structured way to organize, reference, and annotate stimulus files within BIDS datasets.
Key features of the proposal include:
- A standardized structure for the
/stimuli
directory - Introduction of
stimuli.tsv/json
for listing and describing stimulus files - Support for both still and time-varying stimulus annotations
- Compatibility with existing BIDS events files
- Enhanced FAIR principles for stimulus sharing
The full proposal is available for review at:
- Pull Request: https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-specification/pull/2022
- HTML Preview: Stimuli - Brain Imaging Data Structure 1.10.1-dev
- Example Implementation: [WIP] An example for the stimuli-structure by neuromechanist · Pull Request #433 · bids-standard/bids-examples · GitHub
We welcome feedback from the community in any of the following ways:
