CAT12: Difference between "Surface and Thickness Estimation" and "Process Volume ROIS"

I want to use CAT12’s volume-based segmentation approach. I deactivated “the Surface and Thickness Estimation” option, but now wonder what the next option “Process Volume ROIS” does? What exactly is the difference between the two? It seems that the latter is an estimation method for cortical thickness based on volumetric information instead of a “native” surface-based approach? I wonder if I should also deactivate this if I am not interested in surface-based analyses?

Pinging @Christian_Gaser here

“Process Volume ROIs” is used to extract volume (instead of thickness) for a parcellation atlas. So it is not related to surface-based analysis.
