Hello,

I am Mohamed, a Ph.D. candidate (3rd year) in Electrical and Computer engineering department at the University of Canterbury, Christchurch-New Zealand. I am based at the New Zealand Brain Research Institute (NZBRI), My Ph.D. project is focusing on the physiological mechanisms and behavioral characteristics of the attention lapses (Mind-Wandering and Mind-Blanking), I use neuro imaging modules (EEG + fMRI) to identify the neural signature of these lapses by doing voxel-wise and functional connectivity analyses.

Regards,
Mohamed

Heyy NMA! I am Sunidhi from India, a total newbie to neuroscience! After pursuing my masters in computational biology, I worked for a while with a healthcare startup as a data scientist. Soon I realized I want to pursue a PhD and I started working as a Research Assistant. Currently am looking for PhD positions in a neuroscience lab that has interests in neurodegenerative disorders and ageing. I want to explore the domain of healthy ageing.

Extremely excited about NMA! Hoping it’ll prove to be the best way for me to get into neuroscience.

Hello everyone,

My name is Uğurcan Çakal, and I am a second-year MSc student in METU Electrical and Electronics Engineering department, in Turkey. Currently, I am studying computational neural cell assembly models, along with parallel programming and my research is on spiking neural network applications on neuromorphic computer architectures. Apart from my studies, I am interested in analog photography and especially printing in darkroom.

I am excited to know people coming here and participate in an interdisciplinary project through NMA.

Greetings,
I am Avisha. I am in final year of my undergraduate degree in electrical engineering at Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. I am also a coordinator of the Brain and Cognitive Science Society here.

My research interests lie broadly in Affective Science. I am fascinated by human emotions and emotional brain networks. Currently, I am working on the computational model of emotions in Belief Desire Theory of emotions.
In past I have worked on facial expressions detection and emotion recognition. I designed experiments to elicit various emotions and captured Micro-expressions. I have been experimenting with blending of emotions and examining facial expressions during the transition between two different emotion stimulus.
I also want to explore affective forecasting and am a big fan of Prof. Daniel Gilbert’s works on it.
In my leisure time I like watching anime, reading fantasy fiction and engaging in journalistic activites. I like interviewing people and digging up unique and untold stories.

Hello everyone,

I’m Hossam, I’m in final year of my Undergraduate degree in Biophysics student at Tanta university Egypt.
I’m interested in neural interfaces for prosthesis also the motor dysfunction disease.
I like insects behavior( beetles, cockroaches, praying mantis and bees) and I have my collection of insects preserved.
the question I wanted to ask is how to develop a better efficient prosthetic arms and I will start my graduation project in Human-Insect interaction through connecting between muscle contraction in insect appendage and human limb.
I’m enthusiastic to learn more.

Stay Safe everyone!

Hello everyone,

I’m Alok. I just completed my undergraduate degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Pulchowk Campus, Nepal.
I started learning topics related to AI, ML and Neuroscience from my 3rd undergraduate year. My interests lie in decoding the consciousness of brain. My interests in AI came from the fascination of the brain and it’s workings.
I love to read books, travel and meditate.
I am enthusiastic to meet everyone and learn a lot along the way.

Hi everyone!

It’s incredible to be here, and I feel so excited to embark on this learning adventure with all of you : )

My name is Robin and I’m a MS student of Computer Science at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden. I love coding and also enjoy taking things apart to understand how they function (link to my GitHub user). I have a background in IT-security and at work and on our spare time Daniel (who’s also part of this year’s Neuromatch) and I reverse engineering software, and it is a thrilling challenge to now join the ranks of reverse engineering the brain.

We all share a fascination with the brain and I can’t wait to get a peek into your worlds and see what excites and interests you the most. I am really interested in the possibilities of Neural Interfaces, both for use in society but perhaps more so in the potential they unlock for further studying the brain at an even closer level.

See you over the weeks to come!

Cheerful regards,
Robin

Hey, I am Jan, Post Doc @Northeastern University, Boston. I am originally from Germany with a background in Optometry👀. I am here to improve my modeling and computational skills as I work in vision science and would like to tap into more advance methods and analysis tools. I have only used Matlab so far, but work on my Python.

I look very much forward to the NMA :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi!

I’m Orel Tahary, new to this platform (in anticipation of NMA) and very excited to be here!
I am a PhD candidate in Bar Ilan university in Dr. Bar-Gad’s lab, broadly interested in neural mechanisms of movement and behavior. My current project involves multi unit recording in the basal ganglia with movement analysis. And so I’m using various image processing methods, segmentation of behavior analysis and signal processing. started out in MATLAB, made the transition to python.
In the future I would like to learn how to model neural circuits.

Looking forward to learning with and from all of you

All the Best!

Hi!

I am Dulce Mariscal, I am a PhD student in the Bioengineering Department at the University of Pittsburgh. My research focuses on the area of human locomotor control, my lab is trying to understand how gait adaptation happens and how brain lesions, such as stroke in the cortex and cerebellum, impairs people’s ability to update their movements. At NMA will be my first time working on Python, so I am really excited to learn how to use this language and to learn how to model neural data.

Looking forward to learning to tons on NMA

Best,
Dulce
