Job Posting: Assistant Professor in Cognitive Neuroscience/Cognitive Psychology, Adelphi University

The Gordon F. Derner School of Psychology seeks to enhance its roster of distinguished faculty through the addition of a colleague with a background in Cognitive Neuroscience or Cognitive Psychology, broadly defined. The successful candidate will play a significant role in our growing undergraduate neuroscience major. Applicants for this tenure track Assistant Professor position must have a PhD by the time of appointment, which is anticipated to begin in the Fall of 2021. Candidates will be expected to contribute primarily to our undergraduate neuroscience major, a joint venture between the Derner School of Psychology and the Department of Biology, through teaching, research, and service. Candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate courses including, but not necessarily limited to, cognitive neuroscience, cognitive psychology, and upper-level advanced topics neuroscience courses in the candidate’s specific area of expertise. Successful candidates will establish an active research program, have a strong interest and/or experience in initiating and guiding undergraduate student research, and an interest in interdisciplinary collaboration.

All candidates with a Ph.D. in Cognitive Neuroscience, Cognitive Psychology, or related disciplines conferred by no later than August 2021 will be considered. Priority will be given to individuals with teaching experience in any area of Neuroscience or Cognitive Psychology and to individuals whose research program demonstrates expertise in interdisciplinary approaches to studying cognitive, affective, and/or developmental processes. Competitive candidates will have research programs that complement current research interests in the department and background/experience in working with culturally diverse populations.
