Output preproc_bold 64 bit real?

Hi all,

I ran fmriprep (1.2.6-1)on my multi-echo (n= 3 echos) data, with the t2s-coreg argument. I ignored slicetiming, and used fieldmaps. I was a bit suprised to find out that the output preproc_bold is in a 64 bits per pixel resolution, making the final .nii files four times as large as the original single echo .ima files that are only 16 bit. Would anyone be able to tell me why this might happen, and whether this is necessary?

I hope my question is clear, but I will be happy to provide any additional information if necessary!

Thanks a lot,
best,
Maxime
