Postdoc Position in Computational Neuroscience @ UCSF

Post-doctoral Fellowship in Neuroimaging and Computational Modeling
Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging
University of California at San Francisco

The Department of Radiology at UCSF has a position available for a Post-doctoral Associate in the laboratory of Dr Ashish Raj, a researcher in brain network modeling and machine vision.

Our lab aims to develop advanced computational models and methods for visualization, analysis, quantification and processing of medical imaging data, especially neuroimaging data. The lab has faculty, researchers and students from the fields of computer science, electrical engineering, physics, applied mathematics and radiology.

This Fellowship will be conducted under the supervision of Ashish Raj and will be supported from new NIH grants for developing graph-based models for dementia and of brain activity. Possible projects include:

  • Graph models for progression of various neurological diseases in the brain
  • fMRI, EEG and MEG data analysis and computational modeling
  • Graph-based models and representations for neuroimaging data
  • Combined modeling of functional and structural brain networks
  • Human brain Connectomics
  • Software design and engineering

The Raj laboratory provides an exceptional multi-disciplinary research environment and excellent training opportunities. We are a young, energetic and diverse lab that welcomes new ideas. We are located at the vibrant Mission Bay area of San Francisco, with easy access to world-class scientific, medical, cultural and entertainment facilities. San Francisco is one of the most iconic cities in the United States, home to one of the world’s grant centers of science, technology and entrepreneurship.
We are looking for a candidate having the following qualifications:

  • Advanced research degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in computer science, electrical engineering, physics, applied mathematics, biomedical engineering or neuroscience
  • Strong expertise in one or more of:
o Graph theory, pattern recognition and computational modeling
o Strong coding and software engineering skills
o Machine Learning / Deep Learning
o MRI image acquisition, reconstruction and processing
o fMRI, EEG and MEG data analysis
    o Neuro-image analysis
o Familiarity with ADNI, PPMI, HCP and other public neuroimaging databases
o Familiarity with neuroimaging tools like Freesurfer, AFNI, SPM, FSL, BrainStorm, EEGLab
o Signal, image and vision processing
  • Experience in software development and tools such as C++, MatLab, Python
