Problem with cognitive decoding in Neurosynth via Neurovault - error 502 Bad Gateway

dear all,

I’m trying to conduct meta-analytical decoding on my own data using Neurosynth’s decoder. I have uploaded my Tmap images in neurovault (.nii.gz format, MNI template; tried both as private and public collection), but whenever I paste the full link from neurovault into the neurosynth decoder, or use the option ‘Analysis - Cognitive decoding (neurosynth)’ within neurovault, I get the error: 502 Bad Gateway (nginx/1.21.6).

Does anyone know what causes this error and how to fix it? Thanks a lot in advance!

best,
Iris

Hi Iris,

I’m currently in charge of maintaining Neurovault, whats the collection id/image id on Neurovault that you ran into this issue with? I’ll try and recreate the issue and see what might be done.

hi,

That would be fantastic! The collection id is 20089, and for one of the images: 898479 (but the error is for all of them).

I actually see (just now) that each image shows a .nii.nii.gz extension in the file field. Could that be something? Because when I uploaded them they were in the ‘expected’ .nii.gz format, so where does the .nii.nii come from? (And when removing the .nii from the file name before uploading, neurovault doesn’t accept them - saying it expects a .nii or .nii.gz extension).

Iris

Hello.

I have been encountering the same problem for a few days now. I have tried everything I can to get it to work, but it always ends up on the same 502 Bad Gateway screen (nginx/1.21.6)

I would greatly appreciate it if you could help me with this issue as well.

My collection is 898625 and 898626 and I would like to decode the coordinates with neurosynth.

I would really appreciate any help on this.

Thank you very much in advance.

Best,
Alex

Hi all,

Looks like there’s an error with the Neurosynth server that may take some time to fix.

It may be relaed to the isssue identified by iris as well. We are looking into it.

For now, take a look at tools to perform the Decoding in Python using NiMARE:
