Over the past year, I’ve gained a particular interest in neuroinformatics, audio signal processing, and music-induced neuroplasticity, exploring how long-term musical activity can influence mechanisms of cellular signaling and gene regulation in neurons, and how these biological processes contribute to structural and functional changes in the brain. I recently researched that string players (I am a violinist) have an expanded motor cortex representation for their left hand. Are there any recent papers or datasets that show whether this motor asymmetry alters the auditory cortex’s processing of pitch? In addition, as a violinist, I rely heavily on rapid sensorimotor integration, especially with my hands. Does anyone here work with open datasets that directly trace feedback loops between the primary auditory cortex and motor areas?
