The Neuroeconomics Laboratory (PI: Dr. David Smith) at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (Home - Neuroeconomics LaboratoryNeuroeconomics Laboratory | Principal Investigator: David V. Smith, Ph.D.) is hiring for a research associate / project coordinator position. The new hire will primarily assist with a NIH-funded project that uses fMRI to examine age-related differences in social and economic reward processing. This project will be carried out in collaboration with other faculty members of the Department of Psychology at Temple University, including Drs. Johanna Jarcho, Tania Giovannetti, and Ingrid Olson.
This position requires a Bachelor’s or Master’s level degree in psychology, neuroscience, economics, engineering or a related field. Previous research experience is also required. The ideal candidate will demonstrate interest in decision neuroscience and aging, strong motivation, work ethic, and organizational skills. Flexibility in scheduling during some weekend and evening hours is required. Experience with fMRI data collection and analysis is preferred, but can be learned on the job and will be weighed against other important qualities (e.g., organizational skills, attention to detail, experience working with older adults, etc.).
Typical duties of this position will include: 1) assisting with neuroimaging data collection; 2) recruiting, screening, scheduling, and communicating with research participants of all ages (18-90+ years); 3) administering and scoring neuropsychological assessments according to standardized procedures; 4) conducting data analysis; and 5) helping other lab members.
This is an ideal position for a candidate looking to gain additional research experience before applying to graduate or medical school. The research associate will be an integral member of this scientific team and will have opportunities to earn authorship on publications and present posters at scientific meetings and conferences.
This start date of this position will be on or after July 5th, 2021. Applicants who intend to spend a minimum of 2 years in the position will be preferred.
