Special Survey from Neuromatch 3.0: “Better together - Let’s improve the culture of neuroscience.” - Submit your story!
Last year’s Neuromatch 3.0 conference hosted a discussion panel “Better together: Let’s improve the culture of neuroscience”. A number of people told personal stories about exclusion, discrimination, bullying and stereotypes, followed by a general discussion about problems that make life and work in neuroscience challenging - e. g., exclusion of minorities, lack of access to academia for people from the working class, exploitation due to biased power relations, or the overly competitive spirit impeding useful cooperation, just to name a few.
As a result, a group emerged at the panel to write an opinion paper about the issues raised - we think it is important to make them visible and propose solutions. We are thus reaching out to neuroscience communities to (anonymously) collect personal stories and use them to illustrate our points. If you have a story to tell and would like to share your experience, please follow this link. All further details are given there. The deadline is JUNE 1st.
To tackle problems on a societal scale, we need to disclose them. Let’s make neuroscience a better place & be better together.
