This is a DERIVED TRACE volume, not the raw diffusion images. A trace is is based on all the raw source images, so it does not have a bvec associated with it. In your case, it is estimated from images where the bval is 500 (0019,100C is the private tag DiffusionBFactorSiemens). While scanner created derived images are useful for clinical studies, in research we typically only have the scanner store the raw source images. The raw source time series will have variable bval and bvec files associated with it, and tools like dcm2niix will extract those for you (be aware, Siemens reports bvecs in world space, and BIDS/fsl requires them in image space). You will be able to derive better Trace images with that the scanner after standard pre-processing (dwidenoise, mrdegibbs, eddy, topup).

Thanks for the information. I was also wondering why there is the Trace info and not without it. The Radiographers have pushed the Diffusion trace instead of Diffusion raw scans.

Can I know how we can convert the bvecs from world space to image space?

You can adjust the sequence in the Diffusion tab on the MRI console. Most clinical teams like to save derived images (Trace = On, Tensor = On, FA = On, ADC = On), and discard the raw data (Diff. Weighted Images Off). Likewise, clinicians prefer half-sphere directions and bipolar acquisitions to reduce the geometric distortion. Again, research teams often reverse these choices.

Research scientists acquiring raw data suitable for dwidenoise, mrdegibbs, eddy and topup tand therefor hey can remove the geometric distortion in the post processing. The monopolar sequence allows a shorter TE, which is often desirable for SNR.

For your current E11 make sure to set mosaic on (to reduce the number of DICOM files), but make sure to NOT save mosaics when you upgrade to XA30 (which supports enhanced DICOM).
