What is the role of anatomical derivates in calculating compcor confounds?

I have a question regarding the fmriprep anatomical probability segmentation masks resulted by fmriprep in the first place are being used to calculate the timeseries confounds which goes as a parameter in acompcor. The highlighted parameters in the second image depend upon the input mask files. Can anyone please explain? thank you

Hello,

I am not sure I understand the question completely, but it is expected that different tissue class maps (CSF vs GM vs WM) are used for ACompCor. ACompCor uses PCA to model physiological noise from WM and CSF compartments. Does that help?

Best,
Steven
