When to deface data?

Hello,

I have a question about what data needs to be defaced. I know we don’t deface functional data but what about datasets that aren’t for fMRI. I have two cases for a coil combination dataset I wish to share:

  1. Low resolution prescans that I need to include (8mm iso)
  2. Gradient recalled echos at 1 mm isotropic that do not cover the whole face (the most they inculde is some browbone and the top of the eye).

In the first case, pydeface works but I am wondering if it is necessary. In the second case, I assume due to it’s restricted volume, pydeface fails to perform as expected.

Am I making more work for myself, where is the line on defacing?

Thank you,

Olivia
