Head motion modeling fMRI

Hello,

I am looking for a tool to simulate head movement time series data measured during fMRI. Ideally, this tool would allow for the parameterization of physiological patterns observed in such data (e.g., the number of events or spikes along specific axes). Does anyone know of something like this?

Alternatively, I would also appreciate tips on methods for analyzing head motion time series beyond simple mean comparisons across each axis. For instance, I came across a paper that analyzed spectral power in the 0–0.6 Hz range, but that was just one paper. Perhaps there are more established methods?

Thank you for your insights,
Szymon

Hi-

You might want to check out SIMPACE:

  • Beall EB, Lowe MJ. SimPACE: generating simulated motion corrupted BOLD data with synthetic-navigated acquisition for the development and evaluation of SLOMOCO: a new, highly effective slicewise motion correction. Neuroimage. 2014 Nov 1;101:21-34.

While I don’t believe the first author works in FMRI anymore, you could contact Wanyong Shin and Mark Lowe from Cleveland Clinic about this method.

Thank you, I will definitely look it up.
