I have preprocessed my structural T1w and T2w volumes along with rs-fMRi data of several subjects, whose data has been normalized to the MNI template. Along with volume-based analyses, I also intend to carry out some surface-based analyses. In this case, I want to use inflated brain surface models. Would it be okay to use a single MNI inflated surface for all the subjects, or should I reconstruct the inflated surface for each of the subjects? Is there any MNI inflated brain surface model available?
It depends on your analysis goals. But if you want to run a mass univariate analysis you’ll need data projected to the same surface for each subject. This is most commonly done with CIFTI outputs (fsLR space) or fsaverage GIFTI outputs.
