TORTOISE MAP-MRI tractography in QSIRecon

Dear QSIrecon developers,

I was recently advised, that QSIrecon has just implemented a tractography workflow based on MAP-MRI from TORTOISE (see the post Tractography on MAP-MRI? - #2 by irfanoglumo - TORTOISE Message Board - AFNI Discuss Message Board).

I would like to ask when you are planning to release this functionality. Also does the workflow allow the use of voxel-wise b-matrices (from TORTOISE’s gradient non-linearity correction)?

I’m asking as we will be installing a new MRI scanner with very strong gradients (Cima.X) for a research project. In this project we are thinking about using QSIprep and QSIrecon to construct structural connectomes for a very large population dataset (several thousand patients).

Thank you very much in advance.

Best regards

Samuel

Hi Samuel, we don’t have tractography based on mapmri yet but recently figured out how to compute ODFs based on the TORTOISE MAPMRI coefficients. We’re hoping to add this to DIPY.

The voxelwise b-matrices and gradient distortion correction features are high on the list for this year, but I don’t have a good estimate of when those will be ready. It sounds like a possible way forward would be to preprocess the data in tortoise and do the tractography in DIPY?

Hi Matt,

thank you for the reply. The pathway you suggested is a viable option.

We are looking forward to having gradient distortion correction in QSIPrep / QSIRecon. It will be a great addition to the capabilities of the software

Best regards

Samuel
