Zoom Festschrift for Robert "Bob" Cox: Dec. 14, 2021

Dear Colleague-

As you might have heard, Bob Cox will retire from being Director of the NIMH’s Scientific and Statistical Computing Core (SSCC) at the end of December. Bob started the AFNI software package in 1994 and has led its remarkable development since then. Throughout this time, he has been a leader in the field in methods development, dataset formats, visualization and helping researchers “stay close” to their data and better understand it. The SSCC has led over 80 “Bootcamps” at NIH and around the globe, teaching FMRI fundamentals, processing and analysis. But after 20+ years of government service, both he and his wife deserve more time for vacations and other projects, so we can only wish them well.

To celebrate Bob’s career and contributions to the fields of MRI and neuroimaging, there will be a Zoom festschrift on the day of Dec. 14, 2021. This event will bring together a number of researchers from the field to discuss their work and collaborations with Bob and AFNI over the years—likely a mix of interesting science and (Bob being Bob…) amusing anecdotes. Please see here for details and registration information (NB: check back for small schedule updates):
