Introduce yourself!

Hi everyone, time for self short introduction!

I am a French researcher with a keen interest in sports science and neuroscience. As a former physical therapist, I have a background in clinical research and have since shifted my focus towards data-driven research. As a postdoc at the University of Tokyo, I’m trying my best to conduct fMRI studies! Still struggling, so I might post a lot here…

Thank you all for the support and detailed answers! I’ve learn a lot from Neurostars forums already.

Hey everyone! :grinning:

My name is Josh, and I am a Final Year student studying Software Systems Development. For my final year project I am building a proof of concept software system that can help and aid the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease. This system aims to be a combination of tools such as MRI viewers within the browser, tracking patients in terms of medical history related to the Alzheimer’s Diagnosis but also a classification model that could also help with analyzing the patients scans.

Currently I am using the ADNI1 dataset for the classification model and I am using the FSL library for registration and reorientation for the images. But it seems I am running into issues regarding the performance of the registration using FLIRT.

I hope to get talking with some like minded people on this platform and learn something new!

Hi, I’m Vidhi Rohira, a sophomore at Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI), Mumbai, India. I have a keen interest in open-source contributions, reinforcement learning, and AI research.

During Summer 2024, I worked on Super MaRLo Bros, a project where I explored reinforcement learning algorithms to train an AI agent to play a custom game inspired by Super Mario. This involved experimenting with Q-learning, Deep Q-Networks (DQN), and Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO), ultimately concluding that PPO provided better results.

Additionally, I have participated in several hackathons and competitions across colleges, which have strengthened my understanding of LLMs, AI-driven systems, and community-driven research. These experiences have given me hands-on exposure to working with AI models and developing solutions that align with real-world applications.

I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to GSoC 2025 Project Idea #5: Open Source Community Sustainability, as my interests in AI, research, and open-source collaboration align with the project’s goals. I look forward to leveraging my experience and learning from the community to make meaningful contributions.

I’d love to hear any guidance or suggestions on how I can further prepare for GSoC and improve my contributions. Are there specific areas I should focus on to strengthen my application and make a greater impact?

Hi!
I am Nabhojyoti Chattopadhyay. I am a final year master’s student at the Centre of Behavioral and Cognitive Sciences, India where I am specializing in Cognitive Neurosciences. I am interested to pursue graduate studies in the field of Computational Psychiatry. I am excited to join the Neurostars community to sharpen my programming skills by contributing to open-source projects in neuroscience.

Currently, in my master’s thesis, I am employing spiking neural network model of the cortico-basal ganglia-thalamocortical loop to model inhibitory control using a stop-signal task. I would love to discuss it further and get some insights as well.

I am excited to be a part of this community and I hope to engage in discussions which may lead to possible collaborations.

Looking forward to learn and grow!!
Thank you!
